Cordoba Spain

Cordoba was the first place where I really fell in love with the world of Spanish fiestas and got inspiration for working on this website. After 3 days in this picturesque town I have compiled a list of the best things to do in Cordoba. Spain is based on experience, but in researching for my Andalusia Road Trip Iterrary I also checked some things I did in one day in Cordoba, Spain.

After the Visigoths invaded in 572, Cordoba became the capital of what is now southern Spain's Andalusia region, and after that Toledo was the capital of a united Spain. It may not be on the map as Madrid or Barcelona, but seeing all the palaces and fortresses from the time of Arab rule is reason enough to visit it. The mosque was built in the 17th century, when the city was under Islamic control, and is considered one of the largest Islamic buildings in the world, a testimony to the flourishing culture that existed in this city during the 7th and 8th centuries, when Cordobas was the capital of Islamic Spain with a population of about 1.5 million.

Today, the population is about a third the size and size of Spain, but there is still a lot of history and culture to discover here, so the best thing to do in Cordoba is also the best thing to do in Spain. If you feel like spending an extra day in Cordoba, you can do some more things here in the city, such as where to enjoy the nightlife and what is best for you and your family. We hope that our guide will help you plan your holiday in Cordoba, especially if you are wondering what is good for your family.

Cordoba in southern Spain is not as famous as Seville or Granada, but if you have more time and have already explored the Setas of Seville and the Alhambra of Granada, we recommend you book a few nights in Cordoba and discover more of the city. If you are really short of time and still plan your trip to southern Spain and want to include Cordova, we recommend a day trip to Cordoba to visit Mezquita. We want you to learn more about the best things to do in and around Cordoba in Spain and what you should spend at least one night in each city you want to visit.

If you prefer to go with a guide, you can choose between the full-day tour Seville - Cordoba or the tour Granada - Mezquita.

You can also rent a car in Spain from Malaga or Seville and be sure to check fuel conditions. The more expensive option is to book a car that will take you directly from Malagua Airport or Seville to Cordoba. You can travel directly from the airport to the city of Granada, giving you the opportunity to see the spectacular hills surrounding the city and the city itself.

The train journey to Cordoba takes 1 hour and 50 minutes, the journey once or twice an hour, in total it takes about one and a half hours. The Andalusian trip to Granada can end with a flight from the airport in Seville or Santa Justa. If you are flying from Madrid or Seville, there is a hotel in Cordoba, but you can also fly directly from Malagua airport or Malaga airport or take the train from one of the two airports.

If you are planning a trip to Andalusia and want to travel from Seville to Cordoba, the Spanish A-4 motorway is a direct route that takes just 1 1 / 2 hours. You can fly directly from Madrid or Malagua airport or Santa Justa airport to Granada, then drive to Cordoba or take the train from either airport.

The city is also well connected by train to other cities in Andalusia, not to mention Madrid, such as Granada and Seville. The train station of Cordoba is just a few minutes from the centre of the region.

The province of Cordoba also has a number of picturesque towns that are worth a visit. The Castillo de Albaida (renovated castle) is located on the outskirts of the city, a few kilometers from the capital. This impressive castle is built in the rock and is the only one of its kind in the region, with its own museum, a museum of medieval architecture and an art collection.

Andalusia has a number of great sights, including the Alcazar de Cordoba, one of Spain's most popular tourist attractions, and the Alhambra (think of the Alcazar of the Alhambras). The city itself is a must see - see the city with its beautiful architecture, historic buildings and beautiful beaches.

A great way to discover the essence of Andalusia during your stay in Cordoba is to visit an absolutely breathtaking historical setting. The Palacio de Viana is worth a visit, as are most of the beautiful courtyards of the city and the Alhambra.
